Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival Announces Final 2016 Film Schedule
The Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) returns as part of Comic-Con International for its 17th year. The CCI-IFF once again features a complete schedule of films from around the world, including the United States, Canada, France, Greece, Israel, New Zealand, and Portugal.
The Festival features the very best in genre films in seven categories: Action/Adventure, Animation, Comics-Oriented, Documentary (Pop Culture-Oriented), Horror/Suspense, Humor, and Science Fiction/Fantasy. The films have been judged by a panel of industry luminaries (see below), and awards will be given out to the best film in each category, plus an overall “Judges’ Choice” award.
All films will be screened at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina next to the Convention Center, on the north end (Hall A) of the center. This year, the CCI-IFF moves to the new Marriott addition, adjacent to the North Tower of the hotel. The Film Festival room is Pacific 23, which is located on the first floor (street level) of the building. The schedule also includes the return of the popular ongoing panel series Comic-Con Film School, plus additional film-related panels on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during the day. On Sunday, the CCI-IFF Awards will be presented, followed by screenings of the award-winning films in each category. Look for signage onsite directing you to the screening room.
Each year the CCI-IFF chooses a trio of judges to view the submissions of genre films we receive. These judges, respected individuals in the fields of film and popular arts, decide which films will be screened in the festival. The judges for 2016 are Matt Atchity, Eric Jacobus, and Nick Murphy.
