Outlet Key Contacts of pre-approved press outlets may now register for badges. All press badge registrations must be completed by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2021.
Due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a limited number of press badges available for Comic-Con Special Edition. Only press outlets who are currently pre-approved (Verification NOT DUE - Approved) are eligible to register for press badges. Unfortunately we are unable to accept new or returning Press Outlet Applications for Comic-Con Special Edition.

The Outlet Key Contact is the primary person responsible for facilitating all communication between the press outlet and Comic-Con Special Edition, including the management of press badge registrations, if pre-approved (Verification NOT DUE - Approved). There can only be one Outlet Key Contact per press outlet. However, an Outlet Key Contact may be the Outlet Key Contact for multiple press outlets.

No. Comic-Con Special Edition is unable to accept any faxed or emailed applications or verification materials. Unfortunately we are unable to accept new or returning Press Outlet Applications for Comic-Con Special Edition. Comic-Con Special Edition press registration is available for pre-approved (Verification NOT DUE - Approved) press outlets only.
As a nonprofit organization, Comic-Con Special Edition is able to provide complimentary press badge(s) to press outlets that meet the published guidelines. This requires you to provide information and examples of work in order for us to verify the legitimacy of the applying press outlet.
Press outlet verification approval is valid for two consecutive years (the application year and the following year) unless earlier verification is requested by Comic-Con.
Freelance press members’ verification will only be valid for the year approved.
There will be no onsite registration for press at Comic-Con Special Edition.
If you are the Outlet Key Contact for a pre-approved press outlet:

Log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account.

Select the “Press” tab.

Click the blue “My Allotment” button to view your outlet’s badge allotment for Comic-Con Special Edition.

If you are registering yourself, click the yellow “Register” button and follow the instructions.

To share the badge registration portal with your attending member(s), click the “Copy URL” button.

Share this unique URL with your outlet member(s) to complete their press badge registration. Your member(s) will need their Comic-Con Member ID, Last Name, and Press Title to complete this registration process.

The Comic-Con Special Edition COVID-19 policy can be viewed here. Please advise your members to not register for a press badge if they are unable or unwilling to meet the policy requirements.

No. A Comic-Con Special Edition press badge is complimentary and does not include a guest or child badge.
Posting or airing more than 15 minutes of a panel without prior consent from Comic-Con Special Edition is not permitted. Live streaming is not permitted. Registered press members that would like to videotape, film, and/or record any matter that will be used for commercial purposes (not news) must first obtain written permission from Comic-Con Special Edition and any other participants being recorded. To request the appropriate consents for recording, please email pr@comic-con.org with detailed information regarding your interest to record at Comic-Con Special Edition.

Yes. Comic-Con has a press workroom located inside the San Diego Convention Center for our registered press members. You must have a Comic-Con Special Edition press badge to enter this room.
Please note: You may not leave any personal belongings in this room. Details will be sent via email to registered press members prior to the convention.
A Comic-Con Special Edition press badge does not give you early access, special access, or assigned seating to any of our panels or programming rooms. You must wait in the same line as the general attendees.
