The Ultimate Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration FAQ

Comic-Con International 2015 Registration Update

Although many people choose to go (Han) solo to Comic-Con, it’s always fun to have a partner in crime or two! If you plan to purchase badges for family and friends during Attendee Preregistration, we have some important information for you below. We’ve also thrown in a few more frequently asked questions for good measure, because you can never be too prepared!

Q: I am eligible for preregistration and want to purchase a badge for my spouse, but they did not attend Comic-Con 2014. Can I purchase a badge for them during my registration session?

A: No. Only those who are eligible for preregistration that also confirmed their Comic-Con 2014 Badge ID prior to October 15, 2014, can purchase a badge during Saturday’s sale. Everyone you want to purchase a badge for must be eligible to participate in preregistration.

Q: I am buying badges for my friends. Can we each use our own credit card for purchase? Do you accept PayPal or debit cards?

A: Comic-Con accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express only. If your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo, you will be able to use it for purchase.

We're sorry, but we cannot accept PayPal or payments using multiple credit cards. You may only use one credit card for payment during your registration session

Q: My friend is out of town and asked me to purchase his badge. I have his Member ID and last name. Will I need his Comic-Con 2014 Badge ID?

A: All you need to purchase a badge for someone else is their Member ID and last name. However, you can log in to the Expo Logic Registration waiting room using two unique browsers and both you and your friend’s badge ID.  This will increase your chances by giving you two spots in the waiting room. See below for information on running multiple browsers.

Q: We are a family of 3 with three different Comic-Con 2014 Badge IDs. Your website states that I cannot run multiple tabs of the waiting room. How do I enter all three badge IDs on the day of the sale to secure our spots in the waiting room? We only have one computer!

A: Running multiple tabs of the waiting room in the same browser will cause your session to fail. If you only have one computer or device, we suggest opening a unique browser for each badge ID. For example, you can open Safari and enter one badge ID, then open Chrome and enter your second badge ID, and then open Firefox to enter your last badge ID. Running three separate browsers will not negatively impact your waiting room or registration session.

Q: Can I purchase badges for first time attendees during Attendee Preregistration?

A: No. You cannot purchase a badge for a first time attendee or someone who is not eligible for Attendee Preregistration.

Q: My friend didn’t attend Comic-Con 2014. I’m not attending this year, can she use my badge ID to purchase a badge?

A: No. Badge IDs are non-transferrable. Your badge ID is linked to your personal Member ID account only. If she enters the waiting room with your badge ID and then attempts to purchase a badge using her own personal Member ID, the system will recognize that she is ineligible to participate.

Q: Can I share my Comic-Con 2014 Badge ID with a friend?

A: We certainly wouldn’t recommend doing that. A badge ID may only be redeemed for one entry into the waiting room. Whoever uses the badge ID last, will be the only person allowed to enter.

This means that if you enter your badge ID and gain access to the waiting room, and then you give your badge ID to a friend and they enter it to gain access, your session will expire and you will be kicked out of the waiting room.  Your friend’s device and browser will be authorized and you will be left out in the cold. Just don’t risk it!

Q: My husband and I have our own badge IDs and laptops, but share the same IP address. Does this mean only one of us can enter the waiting room?

A: No. You may use multiple computers or devices from the same IP address. If we restrict entry to a unique IP address, those at libraries, office buildings, universities, and dorms could potentially be shut out of the sale.

Q: My son is currently 17 but will be 18 by July 8, 2015. Does he need to purchase an adult or junior badge?

A: Your son can attend Comic-Con 2015 as a junior. Your Member Type (adult, junior, senior) is determined by your age on the date your purchase your badge.

Q: How do I update my name if the Member ID system is closed and I'm participating in Attendee Preregistration?

A: Please contact Comic-Con following the badge sale and we will assist you with a name change.  You can use the “Contact Us” feature once you have logged in to your Member ID account.

Q: I don't have my Comic-Con Badge ID anymore, can you send it to me?

A: Please log in to your Member ID account and select the “Registration Info” tab. Your badge ID has been stored there for your convenience.  Remember, you are not eligible to participate in Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration if you did not validate your badge ID by October 15, 2014.

Q: I have an appointment at 10:00 AM PST on Saturday, November 8. Will you show my number in line in the waiting room so I can quit the sale if I have no chance at getting a badge?

A: Unfortunately we are unable to show your place in line because there is no virtual “line.” The “line” was removed when we went to the random selection process. Members are randomly selected in groups from the waiting room for their registration sessions. Not only are you assigned randomly to a group, but those inside the group are sorted at random. (That’s a lot of randomness!) Think of the waiting room as a giant bowl of Cheerios. We’re all floating together in a big bowl of milk until a spoon comes in and randomly selects the next spoonful. It is impossible to predict which individual Cheerio will be gobbled up next!

Q: If Preview Night sells out before I get selected for a registration session, can I try to upgrade to Preview Night during Open Online Registration?

A: Absolutely! If you are able to purchase all four single day badges during preregistration, you may purchase Preview Night as a stand-alone option if it is available during Open Online Registration.

Q: What time do I need to enter the waiting room? Is it 7:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST) or 9:00 AM PST?

A: The Expo Logic landing page will open at 7:00 AM PST for badge ID entry. However, you do not need to arrive at 7:00 AM to participate. Sleep in! Take your time! Make a hot pot of coffee! You do not need to arrive to the waiting room until about 10 – 15 minutes prior to 9:00 AM PST. Arriving early to the waiting room does not give you an advantage, so save yourself the wait and arrive shortly before 9:00 AM.

That said, please keep in mind that the waiting room will close at 9:00 AM PST. You must arrive prior to 9:00 AM to participate in Attendee Preregistration.
